“The whole of life is just like watching a film. Only it’s as though you always get in ten minutes after the big picture has started, and no-one will tell you the plot, so you have to work it out all yourself from the clues.” ~Terry Pratchett, Moving Pictures
This quote from the late great Terry Pratchett goes a long way to explain why I love films, you get to watch another life, another place, and watch as it unfolds. They are a way to escape from your own life and to temporarily try out another.
Special Features is something I have thought about doing for a long time, but always talked myself out of. There are a lot of film blogs and magazines, do we need more? I’ve decided that yes we do, everyone sees stories differently – and though my ratings may match someone else’s, our reasons why will probably differ. I love films; watching them, reading about them, talking about them – the whole experience is magical to me. So here’s where I can share that enthusiasm with you, the person who has somehow stumbled upon my little blog. Perhaps I’ll mention something that will become a livelong favourite of yours, or simply safe you a couple of wasted hours at the cinema (It happens, we all know).
So right now I’m not sure where this will lead, but it’s an adventure in writing that has been long overdue for me. I hope you’ll stick around for the ride.
PS. I will be covering some TV as well as film, so the first posts on here will be some boxset reviews I wrote many years ago for Dooyoo (does anyone still use that?).
